What Is Sanasar?
Sanasar is a mountain meadow and tourist destination in the Ramban district of Jammu & Kashmir, about 20 km beyond Patnitop. Its name comes from two small villages, Sana and Sar, each named after a local lake. At around 2,050 metres, the wide, cup-shaped meadow is ringed by pine and deodar forest, with views towards the Brahma peaks on clear days.
Sanasar is known as the adventure hub of the Jammu region. Visitors come for shikara rides on Sanasar Lake, horse riding and zipline on the meadow, paragliding in good weather, camping, and forest treks, including the walk up to the 400-year-old Shank Pal Temple on the ridge above. In spring the Sanasar Tulip Garden blooms; in winter the whole meadow turns white with snow.
Unlike busier hill stations, Sanasar is still peaceful and unspoilt. That is exactly why we love it, and why we built this guide.
